Infinite Composites Partners with ORNL to Enhance Long-Term Hydrogen Storage

Infinite Composites Inc. and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have partnered under a CRADA to enhance hydrogen storage technology. The collaboration focuses on developing lightweight, high-pressure hydrogen tanks that exceed Department of Energy (DOE) efficiency targets. Innovations include advanced gas barrier materials, nanofiller-based coatings, and additive manufacturing techniques. The two-phase research aligns with DOE’s mission to support a clean energy economy, addressing challenges in long-term hydrogen storage and scaling production. The global hydrogen market, valued at $242 billion in 2023, is projected to reach $410 billion by 2030, highlighting the significance of this initiative.
