Chinese 4-legged robot achieves Usain Bolt’s running speed

Black Panther 2.0, a quadruped robot dog developed by Zhejiang University and Hangzhou-based startup Mirror Me, has achieved a groundbreaking feat in robotic mobility. The robot completed a 100-meter dash in under 10 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 19.87 seconds set by Korea’s Hound robot and joining the ranks of elite human sprinters in the “10-second club.”

This remarkable achievement is attributed to the robot’s biomimetic design, which incorporates elements inspired by various animals. Carbon-fiber shins inspired by Jerboas, running shoes inspired by Cheetahs, and spring-loaded knee joints that act as shock absorbers, mimicking black panthers, all contribute to the robot’s exceptional speed and agility. Additionally, AI-powered gait optimization and the use of advanced materials further enhance its performance, setting a new standard in robotic mobility.
