BASF opts for sustainable glass fiber in its Ultramid® A&B portfolio

BASF has partnered with 3B Fibreglass to incorporate sustainably produced glass fibers into its Ultramid® A & B compound portfolio, aiming to reduce its Scope 3.1 emissions by 15% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. 3B Fibreglass utilizes green electricity, including on-site solar panels and green energy purchasing agreements, in its production processes, aligning with the glass fiber industry’s goal of climate neutrality by 2050. This collaboration is expected to decrease the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of BASF’s glass fiber reinforced products by approximately 10%, equating to an annual reduction of about 5,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions—comparable to the yearly emissions of 200 average German households. This initiative underscores BASF’s commitment to environmental sustainability and enhances the eco-friendliness of its supply chain
